Level 5 Advanced Diploma

To access this qualification you will need to have passed Level 4 or be exempted from it by CIPS. There are 5 modules to be completed to achieve this award. Three of the modules are mandatory and the balance of 2 modules are optional. On completion of this qualification you can progress to Level 6.

This module examines the storage and distribution of supplies across a variety of contexts and structures. Also the roles storage and distribution play in the supply chain, introducing the concepts of customer service and added values. In addition considering elements of transport and inventory operations which support storage and distribution function.

The module introduces the operations management, the role it places in the broader aspects of the supply chain. Examining the  functional elements of quality, processes, resources and the design of products and services. Also the planning, scheduling materials, systems like e.g., JIT and demand management roles essential for an effective operation.

This module examines the contract process from concept to deliverables; the roles and the approval process through specification, aggregation and cost benefits. Also to consider the implications of sustainable procurement and identifying cost/benefits. In addition the forms of contracts and the regulations which apply both EU and UK. Finally the collaboration and relationship issues in current procurement contracts.

This module deals with the management of procurement in the public sector with a view to understanding the policies and procedures e.g., PFI. Also current best practices in Procurement, the accountability and the various roles in public procurement. Also the impact of policies and initiatives challenging the sector. Finally the need for financial transparency and the role of audit e.g., PAC.

The module introduces sustainable procurement - What it means to all purchasing professionals ? The background of sustainability and how purchasing can make an impact. Also the various bodies who regulate environmental controls and the policies/laws that the government has agreed to achieve. Some useful understanding the initiatives and global issues for the supply chain presented by the designing sustainable supplies.
